Callanworld
Welcome home!
On this website, you will find hundreds of Callans, and our Irish cousins -- the Reillys, Boylans and Lynch's -- as well as the families that our Callans married into. This site contains hundreds of our stories, thousands of pictures and videos. It even contains our Irish cookie recipies, handed down for generations.
Please Register! -- its free -- and take a look around.
There are more than 1500 relatives in the Callanworld family tree so far. Most of them can trace their roots to a few dozen desperate souls who left Coolkill Lane in County Cavan Ireland during the Great Hunger. From the early 1850s to the early 1880s, the Callans streamed across the Atlantic, and most never went back.
In those 30 years, two million Irish died or left their homeland. Descendants of relatives of ours that remained live on Coolkill Lane to this day. In fact, in the picture at the left, I am standing outside one of their homes on Coolkill Lane!
On the menu above, you should see a link to our "family tree" on Ancestry.com, the Callan BBS on rootsweb, and some "links" you might find useful.
To access the rest of this site, which includes thousands of family histories and photos, you will have to register. Once you do, you can click on photos, videos, historical documents. And you can upload your pictures and videos too.
So please sign up for Callanworld.com! If you are a Callan, or have any Callan ancestry you know of or are suspected of, please come back often. If you have any questions about your Callan heritage, you can also contact me by email. I will do my best to help connect you to the thousands of relatives that are already here.
