Jennifer Hansen - The Expert
Background and Experience
Jennifer Hansen grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah, just minutes from the Family History Library. She graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Family History and Genealogy. While attending school she worked as a reference consultant at the Utah Valley Regional Family History Center. In 1999 she received her genealogy Accreditation in Danish research from the Family History Library.
Since leaving the university, she worked for a year and a half as a full-time professional researcher, specifically researching major U.S. metropolitan areas such as New York City. She also worked for Ancestry.com as an acquisitions genealogist, building the genealogical databases on the website. She was also very involved in developing the AncestryPlus library program, an Ancestry.com/Gale Group collaboration.
Her other genealogical experience includes attendance at several national conferences, lecturing at regional conferences, and writing articles for genealogical publications. She has taught beginning genealogy courses as a volunteer. She is a member of the National Genealogical Society and the Association of Professional Genealogists.
Jennifer currently works as a full-time wife and mother. She also teaches scrapbooking classes and enjoys the outdoor.
