Quiet week on the
Fields of the Morning
Glory Farm
June 3, 2003
Well we are enjoying a
quiet week on the fields on the Morning Glory Farm. Saturday we
enjoyed a day of searching out some previously loved sales. (Garage
Sales). The bargains that were found just astound me. Jean was
able to get some wonderful “I am Irish” stationary.
We found this treasure at a
Muscogee (Creek) Nation member’s home. Tribal members were selling
Irish treasures. I have a funny feeling that if we sold dream
catchers it would not go over as well.
Would it not be nice, with
life as busy as it is sometimes, if people would not bring the garage sale
to us? Instead of driving all over town, you could just call the
people with children’s clothes and have them come over to the house and
show their stuff.
Or used tools, some old man
would drive up in a broken pickup truck and show off his tools and tell
stories about how he bought a special piece of equipment because his wife
needed some chore done. The time it would save. Maybe if a
person owned a big cattle trailer they could load it up and then you could
view a lot of stuff and it would all stay under a roof. Fifth wheels
could be used to show off glass wares and such.
This week the Phillip and
Jean search for work. Of course they do not want to employed by
Sherry or I. Think they might be afraid of working too much.
They are waking up and calling the different places and finding that their
youth is not in their favor. To think what Sherry and I started out
at getting paid and what they two are looking to get is just
amazing.
As the job market is not
promising the two minds have come together in an entrepreneurial
manner. They dream of making the garage into a neighborhood
vegetable stand. Both would like an air conditioner installed in the
garage and would also like to have a cable TV. They feel the
market is ripe for organic farming and possibly have a jelly stand for
expansion.
With my business background
I gave them a simple test.
Q: Are you a self –
starter? A: You will wake us up so it does not
matter.
Q: How well do you get along with
different personalities?
A: If
they do not want to buy then we will not sell to them.
Q: Do you have the physical and
emotional stamina to run a business?
A: How hard could it be to work in the
air-conditioning, and getting paid to watch TV?
Q: How well do you plan and
organize
A: Watched four Martha Stewart shows
in a row today.
Q: Is your drive strong
enough?
A: That is why we are working so we
will be able to get a car to drive.
Q: How will the business affect your
family?
A: You and Sherry may get tired doing
all gardening.
I on the other hand think
that we should have a bed and breakfast. Our room rates would not be
very high. We could charge $30 a day for the opportunity to
organically farm, (pull weeds in the garden). For the bargain of $50
dollars you will be made the temporary director of Bolvine
Activities. (fix fence all day).
Short courses in Poultry
Management will be offered for only $20. (clean the chicken
coop). We have a whole syllabus of events to choose
from.
Our special turkey struggles
with the challenge of walking. Nurse Sherry was unable to splint the
legs. She now is thinking of casting the legs. Phillip was
unable to design a walker for the turkey. I do not know how he was
going to train it anyways to use a walker.
Maybe if we can get a
collection gathered up the turkey could go and see Benny Hinn. If we
can have enough donated Brother Antonio at Antonio's Healing Hands
can do a healing via the
internet or phone, (to include cell phones) So money that might be
sent would not be foolishly wasted on transportation and the
administrative would be lower. Please help the special
turkey.
Two ducks are sitting on
nests the current time. The evil mallard baby killing duck has laid
another bunch of eggs. I wonder why?????
