Now Playing - Take This Job & Shove It

Been following the elections lately. We have both decided not to run for the governor of California. So many others are running. Thought that there was no need for us to enter into the confusion. We are having elections for the tribe here. One of the candidates is running on a platform that she is able to think on a higher level. She is running for Chief. I just do not think that I would vote for someone who told me that. I do not care if it is true. Surprised others have not used that same logic.

Heard that Jerry, the dog, saved the chicken’s lives last night. I guess a skunk wondered by and Jerry went out to chase it off. I guess he chased it off as no chickens are missing. His boy, Phillip, washed him off with tomato juice. I have been sprayed several times and never gotten to use tomato juice. Guess the dog rates higher or is unable to use its paws to grip the soap. Phillip and Sherry spent some time together talking about the heroics of Jerry. I guess deep down we are proud of him. Talked about what must have been going thru those chickens minds. “Help, Help, oh don’t worry it is Jerry the wonder dog.” Then afterwards they knew where Jerry was. In fact everyone downwind knew where he was. To think that some people watch reality T.V.

So we have been put out on critter watch. We put out our trap. We got one little possum over by the chicken coop using our live catch trap. Bet the little fellow was just looking over the chicken and quail situation. Guess he has since moved on and the chickens will not be scared of him. Where he went, there are probably lots of chickens for him to hunt each day. Sherry saw another possum up by the house. Phillip thinks it wants corn but Sherry thought it was looking for the chickens. So we had to move the trap up to the house and have not caught another one at this time.

Sherry informed me that we needed some corn. Told me that I had to go out and score some corn for the animals. I think she might be watching too much T.V. So this weekend Phillip and I traveled across the country looking to get some corn. This was not an easy task with the holiday season. We went to Perry, they were closed for the weekend. From there we traveled to Pawnee and got some 960 lbs of corn. The elevator man then told us we were over weight and would have to leave town a different way then what we came in on. Never have I been told to leave town and that I was overweight. He was not all that small either. Don’t plan on buying any more corn there.

Think we were sent on the corn run to miss the OSU vs. NE game. Sherry probably wanted to keep the peace in household. Sure do not make a lot of friends during football season around here. But I do make some extra cash during football season. My in-laws are good people as is Sherry’s. No one ever talks about where we come from when we gather.

The county fair is going on. The neighbor had some garden produce in the fair. He did not place, but I think he enjoys entering the fair. He entered vegetables last year also. The trouble with this is he does not garden. So I was disappointed to see that our okra did not win any prizes. Guess it was a good thing not so see our cattle or chickens in the fair.

Life is good.
