2. Enable Cookies

In order for MyFamily.com to know which site you belong to and what information you can see, each member must use a browser that supports "cookies". A "cookie" is a small piece of information sent by a web server to store on a web browser so it can later be read back from that browser.

Even though your browser can support cookies, you should verify that your cookies are turned on. This can be done by checking your browser settings. Perform the following steps for the browser that you have:

Netscape 4.0

  1. Select "Edit" from the menu.
  2. Select "Preferences".
  3. From the Category box on the left, click on "Advanced".
  4. On the right side of the window in the "Cookies" area, select "Accept all cookies".
  5. Press the "OK" button.

Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0

  1. Select "View" from the menu.
  2. Select "Internet Option..."
  3. Select the "Advanced" tab.
  4. Scroll to "Cookies"
  5. Select "Always accept cookies"
  6. Press the "OK" button.

3. Enable Javascript

Netscape browsers allow the user to disable javascript. MyFamily.com uses javascript to validate the information that each member posts on your family website. If you are using Netscape perform the following steps to enable Javascript on your browser:

  1. Select "Edit" from the menu.
  2. Select "Preferences".
  3. From the Category box on the left, click on "Advanced".

  6. Press the "OK" button.

4. Enable Java

MyFamily.com uses Java for the announcements ticker as well as for the ChatterBox. If you are using Netscape perform the following steps to enable Javascript on your browser:

  1. Select "Edit" from the menu.
  2. Select "Preferences".
  3. From the Category box on the left, click on "Advanced".
  4. At the top on the right side of the window, check "Enable Java".
  5. Press the "OK" button.

  1. Select "View" from the menu.
  2. Select "Internet Options" then the security tab.
  3. For the Internet Zone, select Custom and click on Settings.
  4. Scroll Down to the Scripting area.

5. AOL Users

If you are a member of America OnLine, we suggest that once you connect to your America OnLine Service, minimize (not close) the AOL application and use one of the Recommended Browsers to connect to MyFamily.com. The America OnLine browsers sometimes do not perform the desired functional behaviors that MyFamily.com wants to provide for its members.

If you constantly get the Login Page after logging in, you must set a preference on the AOL browser. Select -Preferences-, click the -Advanced- tab, then from the 'Temporary Internet Files" section select -Settings-. From the Setting pop up box, select "Every visit to the page". This should help the problem.
